LPS 1175.
SR2 to SR4, certified.

The Loss Prevention Certification Board standard for forced-entry resistance. Three Fort doorsets are certified to LPS 1175 Issue 8: FORT002 LP2S at SR2, FORT003 LP3S at SR3, Fort Vault 004 FB4 at SR4. Every one of them listed on RedBook Live, public for anyone to verify.

LPS 1175 sets attack-resistance ratings for security doorsets, shutters, and other building components. Each rating corresponds to a specific attacker profile, defined by the toolkit they have access to and how long they’re prepared to work on getting through.

It’s the standard UK specifiers cite for high-security projects across MOD, data centres, utilities, embassies, and counter-terror. Procurement teams reference it because it’s published, audited, and the certificates are public on RedBook Live. Fort Engineering holds three LPS 1175 certifications, one product per rating from SR2 through SR4.

Methodology

How LPS 1175 is tested.

01.

Full assembly test

The standard tests doorsets as complete assemblies. Leaf, frame, hinges, locking system, and any approved accessories all sit under one rating. Not the leaf in isolation. Not the lock alone.

02.

Defined toolkit per rating

Each SR rating has a specified toolkit. SR1 covers opportunist attempts with body force. SR4 covers heavy hand tools, lightweight power tools, and longer attack time. The standard runs up to SR8.

03.

Time-to-breach window

Testing measures how long the assembly resists the defined attack. The attacker has a fixed maximum total time, and a separate fixed working time within that window.

04.

LPCB-approved facility

Tests run at LPCB-approved labs only. Results are listed publicly on RedBook Live and anyone can verify a Fort certificate by its number. No need to ask us first.

Specifying

Which SR rating for the project?

The right rating depends on the threat assessment for the site, the insurance specification, and what the procurement team has been briefed against. Below is the typical mapping we see in real specifications, but it’s not a substitute for a proper risk assessment.

SR2

FORT002 LP2S

Attack profile: Deliberate attempt with body force and basic hand tools (chisel, screwdriver, pliers, claw hammer). Short attack window, no power tools.

Typical applications: Education entrance and lockdown doors, lower-risk commercial frontages, housing schemes where Part Q minimum isn’t enough on its own, healthcare general-access doors.

SR3

FORT003 LP3S

Attack profile: Experienced attacker with extended hand toolkit and lightweight power tools (cordless drill, jigsaw, bolt croppers). Longer attack window.

Typical applications: Healthcare drug stores and higher-risk wards, data centre perimeter entries, utility substations, commercial premises with serious crime exposure, sensitive utility cabinets.

SR4

Fort Vault 004 FB4

Attack profile: Determined attacker with heavy hand tools, lightweight power tools, longer attack time. The civilian high-threat tier.

Typical applications: MOD List X and List N projects, data centre critical rooms, embassies, high-net-worth residential safe rooms, utility sites operating under CPNI guidance, nuclear ancillary sites.

If you’re not sure which rating applies, send us the spec or a brief of the threat profile. We’ll point you to the right product, or tell you straight if LPS 1175 isn’t the right standard for what you’re describing.
